What is DIPG? What is DIPG and who was Kat Demes?

DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) affects children between the ages of 5 and 9.

The median survival time with DIPG is under 12 months. Surgery to attempt to remove this tumour is not possible or advisable. Aggressive surgery would cause severe damage throughout the brainstem and cause a quicker death. There is the horrible truth behind DIPG. The real tragedy is the small lives it takes in a rapid period of time. It leaves behind devastated parents who can’t understand why this has happened to their little babies. Here is one those babies. My sister in law’s baby Catherine Demes. We miss her every day and can only wish that one-day this disease will have a cure and that no parent or family will have to suffer this horrible loss.
